10 Travel Essentials for a Polished Look

Everyone wants to look good in their travel pictures, but with a limited amount of packing space, this can seem like quite a challenge. Guess what? You don’t need 5 suitcases filled with an entire wardrobe and makeup collection to look great while traveling! All you’ll need are these 10 travel essentials that will help you to always look put together wherever your travels may take you!

In this post we’ll be covering:

  • Versatile clothing items that are easy to mix and match

  • Essential beauty and grooming products for a fresh look

  • Practical tips for staying organized and wrinkle-free

As someone who loves to travel but hates feeling frumpy while doing so, I’ve put together this master list of travel essentials just for you! So let’s get started! Here’s how to always look put together while traveling.

  1. Classic, Neutral Basics

Packing clothing in neutral colors makes putting together chic outfits an absolute breeze! It also saves you space because everything will match. Neutral outfits also tend to make you look more sophisticated and elegant. You will want to pack some neutral colored shirts, dresses, and pants.

2. Wrinkle-Resistant Fabrics

It’s crazy how much of a difference it makes if your clothes are wrinkled. You could be wearing a wrinkled $300 outfit and it will still look frumpy. Try to opt for fabrics like knit and jersey as these will be less likely to wrinkle after being stuffed in a suitcase.

3.Statement Accessories

It is amazing what the perfect pair of sunnies or dainty gold earrings can do to an outfit. If you are looking to save space without sacrificing your style, accessories are the way to go! They are light-weight and really help to elevate your outfit.

4. Stylish/Comfortable Shoes

You don’t have to be that girl that hides her feet in all the photos because she only packed tennis shoes, but you also don’t want to be on the other end of the spectrum where you are hobbling around in heels your whole trip. Find a happy medium by packing one to two pairs of shoes that are stylish yet comfortable. You can opt for something like ankle boots or loafers (these will also transition easily from day to night).

5. Compact Foldable Flats

Keep a pair of compact foldable flats in your bag for when your feet get tired. I love flats because they are comfy and also look super classy. If you have a big enough bag, it might not be a bad idea to keep a black pair and a brown pair so it goes with every outfit.

6. Travel-Sized Beauty Kit

A small beauty kit with essentials like BB cream, dry shampoo, and tinted lip balm will keep you looking put together throughout your trip. Opt for travel-sized versions to save space in your bag.

7. Portable Hair Tools

If you are traveling domestically, having a compact straightener or curling iron can be a literal game changer. After walking around all morning, it will be nice to take a quick bathroom break and re-curl or re-straighten whatever you need to! If you are traveling domestically, you may run into issues with different electrical outlets and your tools not working properly. If this is the case, be sure to have a small brush, hair ties, and a few bobbi pins on hand!

8. Packing Cubes or Organizers

Keeping your things organized well will help to eliminate the stress when getting ready in the morning. It will also save you time if you know where everything is and have a system for getting ready. Packing cubes are also great for keeping your clothes more wrinkle-free.

A small steamer can help you get out those wrinkles quickly and easily! No one ever looked polished in a wrinkled outfit! You can find some pretty small ones that will fit well into your suitcase without taking up too much space.
